The export comes back clean.
You cut on a real multi-track timeline in a browser tab — on the lab machine, on a borrowed laptop, on whatever you can sit down at. When you render, there is no logo in the corner and no upgrade nag over your last frame. Not on Pro, not on the free plan. The renderer has no watermark step in it at all.
What it does, and what it doesn't
We had a competitor grid here with ticks and crosses against other editors. We pulled it: we could not verify those other tools' current features or prices, and putting a cross next to someone else's name without checking is the same sin as inventing a stat about ourselves. Here is our own product instead, both halves of it.

Three AI jobs, and where your files go
These are off on the free plan — a free account's AI quota is zero, not a trickle. Student gets 60 generations a calendar month; Pro is uncapped. And since it matters more than the feature list: your video never leaves your machine to be edited or rendered. Only the two things named below get sent anywhere.
Script-to-Cut
Type what the scene is and get back a numbered shot list — shot size, a suggested lens, a line on movement or eyeline. It's for the night before the shoot, when you're staring at a blank page working out your coverage. The text you type is sent to Anthropic's Claude to answer; no footage is involved.
AI Captions
Captions arrive already timed to your clip and land on the timeline as text clips you can drag and retype. Five styles, burned into the MP4 or exported as SRT / WebVTT. Be clear on the mechanism: the audio is uploaded to OpenAI's Whisper to be transcribed. That is the one time a piece of your media leaves the browser, and it only happens when you press the button.
Edit AI
Paste a transcript and it marks the moments worth keeping and the cuts to make, each with a chip that jumps the playhead to that timecode. You still approve every cut — it proposes, it doesn't reach into your timeline and delete things.

Sign up, land in the editor
Email and password, no card. If your address ends in .edu, that's already noted on your account and the Student price is what you'll be offered later.
Drag in footage and cut something small
Your project saves to your account a couple of seconds after you stop touching it, with a local backup underneath. Close the tab on purpose and reopen it — that's the fastest way to trust it before you commit a real edit.
Export before you pay anything
Render the test cut on the free plan and look at the corners of the frame. Nothing there. That's the one claim on this page worth checking yourself, and it costs you nothing to check.
Upgrade only if you want the AI
Captions, Script-to-Cut and Magic Edit are the paywall. If you don't want them, the free plan is the product. There's no trial to start and no trial to forget to cancel.
The human step

If it isn't for you
Cancel from the billing screen; it's month to month. Download your project files first — they're portable and they round-trip back in, so an export isn't the only thing you get to keep.
